In the past year I have painstakingly cleaned out my entire diet; and as a result of my body detoxing, I suffered hormonal acne. I thought it would go away on its own in a couple of months and for the most part it did. However, ever since I have still been suffering from more acne than I’ve ever had to before. Throughout the course of this year I kept convincing myself that my body will find a balance soon enough. But, due to recent research I have found causes and solutions to cure inexplicable acne. Here are the 5 steps I took to better my skin and get rid of acne:
One of the main causes of your body not being able to fight off bacteria is a weak immune system. Since I knew I was getting enough Vitamin C in my diet, probiotics was the next option.
I had stopped taking probiotics a couple of months ago thinking it wasn’t really necessary until I got an eye infection twice in one month. This isn’t a regular occurrence for me; in fact, I had never gotten an eye infection in my life. That was the first clue to the fact that my body isn’t able to keep harmful bacteria at bay. After searching around for answers as to what is causing the infection, I also found the answer to why my acne had not settled down yet. Probiotics are the good bacteria that keep the bad bacteria away and the bacteria in your gut from over producing.
You are able to get probiotics in any health food store. But, to be safe, talk to your doctor if it’s the right option for you.
2. Olive Oil/Goat Milk Soap
Both, Olive oil soap and/or Goat Milk soap will do wonders for your skin. Because of their moisturizing properties, it not only takes off excess makeup but also moisturizes the skin enough for it to not produce more oils, causing future acne.
Speaking of makeup, make sure to properly cleanse your face so that your skin can breathe and heal at night. I like to massage olive oil into my skin and wipe it off with a wet towel or a wet wipe to get all my makeup off.
3. Tea Tree Oil
I started using tea tree oil about a year ago. However, at first didn’t seem to work too well for me, which made sense since a year ago I had hormonal acne and there’s only so much a topical solution could do in that situation. (For hormonal acne, I suggest you look at your diet and see what’s causing the flare up. Remember, getting acne while menstruating is normal). I had put the tea tree oil aside, only coming back to it about three weeks ago. It has made a huge difference in not only active acne, but also scars from previous ones. I usually use a 15% concentrate before any serum or moisturizer.
4. Vitamin A and Vitamin E Cream
Vitamin A and E creams are great to use at night. Vitamin A used in small doses is great in gently taking off dead skin cells, acne scars and excess oils on the face. Vitamin E on the other hand is super moisturizing and is by far the best thing to use on your face. It will heal acne scars, sunspots and even surgical scars. Both creams provide anti-aging benefits as well.
These are just a few things I try to be consistent about to fight acne. What are some of the things you do?
Thanks for stopping by.
